Let's Show a Little R-E-S-P-E-C-T for the Pac 10!!!!

...OK, so it was a booooring game for those of you out there in television land. And the OU fans didn't much enjoy the game either. But we at USC (and the Pac 10 in general) have been waiting for a loooong time for a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T from the rest of you, and by golly we earned it last night. For the record ,I HATE P(ee) P (ee) Stadium -- the local vernacular for Pro Player Stadium. I had great seats (club level in the USC end zone), but MY poor horse -- Traveler -- didn't have anywhere to run (the end zones go right to the walls) and the decibel level was so high that he didn't make an appearance for every touchdown (which, granted, would have been a lot of appearances). I did feel in teeny weenie bit sorry for those looser Sooners. They had a larger percentage of the crowd (2/3 according to today's Miami Herald), but their fans disappeared until there was no one left but their poor band. We, of course, stayed well past the end of the game because MY players, MY coach, and MY band just kept on going. It was 1:45 AM before I left the stadium, and the party was still going on. FYI, my buddy OJ (Simpson that is) was there somewhere, but I didn't see him. Also FYI, I don't think we'll be seeing Matt Leinart next year (the lure of the $$$$), so let's all start practicing the name Booty so we'll be in fine form next year! The cheer goes "Love That Booty."

Two interesting anecdotes: (1) some fans have the USC fight song on their cell phones. My daughter is in charge of figuring out how to load it onto mine (that's who let me know how sad it is that she knows MY fight song). (2) I learned of another interesting endowment at my alma mater: the flowerbeds (don't know the amount, but it's so big that they have to constantly dig up the flowers and replant....).

On to Sanibel to see my friends -- and get some much needed rest and relaxation.

(sidebar from publisher "oh please, rest?")
